Kieran holding Dusky, his sister's Pomeranian. Both are smiling happily!

In building a statue, a sculptor doesn't keep adding clay to his subject. Actually, he keeps chiseling away at the nonessentials until the truth of his creation is revealed without obstruction.

Vanilla JS Academy

My friend Chris Ferdinandi runs the Vanilla JS Academy, a project-based online JavaScript training programme. As a Teaching Assistant, I help Chris:

  • Conduct code reviews, providing feedback on structure, quality, and potential bugs and accessibility issues. As a result, students learn to write more resilient, efficient code.
  • Debug projects when students struggle to get their code working properly. As part of this process, I teach students debugging techniques and tricks to help them solve problems on their own more effectively.
  • Lead online chat- and video-based discussions on a variety of front-end topics, and mentor students on current and emerging best practices and career questions. As a result, students are highly engaged and have a more effective learning experience.
