“In building a statue, a sculptor doesn’t keep adding clay to his subject. Actually, he keeps chiseling away at the nonessentials until the truth of his creation is revealed without obstruction.”
— Bruce Lee
My name is Kieran Barker. I’m a front-end web developer based in Fleet, Hampshire, UK. Vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS are my thing. As a believer in The Lean Web, I’m not a fan of the bloated frameworks like React and Vue.
I’ve been building websites professionally since . My key concerns are security, performance, and accessibility. I always follow best practices to make my websites as modern and professional as possible.

Vanilla JS Academy
- Conduct code reviews, providing feedback on structure, quality, and potential bugs and accessibility issues. As a result, students learn to write more resilient, efficient code.
- Debug projects when students struggle to get their code working properly. As part of this process, I teach students debugging techniques and tricks to help them solve problems on their own more effectively.
- Lead online chat- and video-based discussions on a variety of front-end topics, and mentor students on current and emerging best practices and career questions. As a result, students are highly engaged and have a more effective learning experience.
